Be Prepared

The Rock Star and I have been working so hard lately.  Non-stop.  We have been waking up early and working late.  Not noticing that it gets dark at 4:45, we find ourselves snapping out of a work-induced haze around 6pm with only the light of our computer screens (and the Christmas lights that are set to turn on at 5:00) to light our way to the kitchen where I'll whip up a really crappy dinner before we either A)  continue working, or B)  go to some event we committed to for that night.

We've been running here and there, getting ready for this and that.  He has some big tours coming up.  I just finished 6 Christmas photo-shoots, a wedding shoot, and a wedding video.  We've skipped date nights in favor of seeing friends and attending Thanksgiving celebrations and my little brother's birthday.  We've driven hundreds of miles in the last two weeks.

Surprisingly, we're not tired.  And, I'm not complaining.  I really love our life.  But, it's about to get BANANAS.  Dan has a tour in January, a two week break, another tour, then we're going to France in mid-February, then he tours again, then we will be receiving a child!  We are totally ready for this kid, and even though 4 months seems like a long time to wait, we have so much going on that it's going to fly by.  I am so glad that we finished our parenting classes and foster classes and applications in November.  Because, even though I'd love to have a little nugget to snuggle with and spoil with Christmas presents right now, I know that we cannot be parents until after all our traveling is done.

So, to our friends and family:  Please be patient with us through the next few months.

I have one more photo shoot this week and then I can really start enjoying this time of year.  I can get the nursery ready and set up our music room in the basement.  Oh yeah, and buy Christmas presents.

Working from a Starbucks today.  Sometimes a coffee shop is the only place I can focus.

  1. I love that you're "receiving a child" ;) What an exciting year ahead, no wonder you're taking it all in stride! If you have christmas lights up you're doing just fine...
