More Details

Prints I'm collecting for the kid's room - Everything will be neutral but accented with gray/green/yellow/red.

I've been getting a lot more questions about Foster-Adoption that I cant answer so I went directly to the source.  I found some great information that I wanted to share about the process.  One thing I am not sure of is how long the process takes.  This is their response to that:

If you are planning to care for school aged children, of either gender, in regular or emergency “receiving” care, or respite care, you would probably begin receiving calls fairly soon after becoming licensed. More specialized homes and those that take only preschool aged children usually have to wait a bit longer as there are fewer of those children needing foster care. [Source].

And then, the adoption.  Questions like "How long does it take", "Are the birth parents involved", "Can the child be taken away from you" have been running rampent so this is what the agency site has to say about that:

Families interested in adoption of children from the foster care system may choose to become a foster-adopt family. When a child initially enters foster care, the first goal is always to help a child return to the care of their biological parents, but this is not always possible. It is better for children to have fewer moves from home to home while in foster care, so those children likely to need an adoptive home are often placed with a foster-adopt family early in the legal process.

Biological families of children in foster care typically have from one to two years to remedy their parental deficiencies. In the meantime, the foster-adopt parent is able to minister to the needs of a child and support them during this period of uncertainty. Of children who are in long-term foster care in YFC, more than half are adopted by their foster parents. [Source].
